MG Launches Windsor EV ‘Commute’ Variant: Priced at ₹13.49 Lakh with 332 km Range

The JSW MG Motor India has come with a new variant of the Windsor EV, and that is the Commute, whose ex-showroom price is 13.49 lakh rupees. It is positioned below the Excite trim and introduced in the Indian market for fleet operators but can also be registered for private use. 

With the launch of the new variant, now the Windsor EV becomes available for sale in a total of six variants. Compared to the Excite trim, it is more affordable, as there’s a price difference of ₹60,000 between these trims.

Gets 17-Inch Silver Steel Wheels 

Launched with 17-inch silver steel wheels, which make it durable for fleet use with good range. Up front, it gets LED projector headlamps that give better visibility on the road at nighttime. The connected LED strips are available in front and also at the back, giving it a premium identity with an illuminated MG logo.

Flush door handles on the sides not only improve its efficiency but also give a modern look, and outside rear-view mirrors eliminate the blind spot and make the driving conditions. In terms of dimensions, it measures 4295 mm in length, 1850 mm in width and 1677 mm in height.

The wheelbase of 2700 mm gives ample legroom for all occupants, and a ground clearance of 186 mm helps in navigating through rough roads and speed breakers and is available with three colour options that are Aurora Silver, Starburst Black and Pearl White.

Features 7-Inch Instrument Cluster 

The interior features a black utility theme that is capable of hiding dust and wear. It comes with sofa-like leather seats that ensure better comfort even for long rides. Gold accents are only available on door trims but enhance the cabin’s premiumness. 

Both seats and the air conditioner are manually adjustable to ensure long-term mechanical reliability. The cabin gets only a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster, which shows all the driving data for a smooth driving experience. For infotainment it gets basic features such as Bluetooth, USB, and FM radio.

The rear seats come with aero-lounge reclining up to 135° for business-class-like comfort and separate AC vents for cooling. With the seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2 and 3, it also features a boot space of 604 litres that can easily carry 5 big pieces of luggage.

A total of six airbags are available inside the cabin, which plays a crucial role in saving the life of occupants during a collision. For phone charging, there are Type-A and Type-C ports, but the rear only gets Type-A.

Comes With 38 kWh LPF Battery Pack 

Equipped with a single electric motor, which is mounted with the front axle featuring a front-wheel drive drivetrain, which generates the power of 134 bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm. The transmission is single-speed automatic, and drive modes are Eco, Eco+, Normal and Sport.

The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 10 seconds, and top speed goes up to 153 km/h. Features a LPF battery pack of 38 kWh, whose ARAI-certified range is 332 km. Supports a DC charger up to 45 kWh, which takes 45 minutes for 20 to 80 per cent, and with the 7.4 kW AC fast charger, it takes 7 hours for 10 to 100 per cent.

Wheels Equipped With Disc Brakes 

The front suspension features MacPherson struts independently that give good steering response and also absorb minor impacts, and the rear gets a twist beam with a semi-independent setup that is highly durable and space-efficient. All wheels get disc brakes that provide superior stopping power.

An electronic parking brake is available, which prevents it from rolling back on inclines, and it also features the anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution, which prevents wheel lock and distributes the braking power among all wheels.
