Electric vehicle sales in the Indian market have seen a significant surge in the past few months, one of the key reasons behind the middle conflict. This year, the highest EV sales are expected between October and November, the peak sales season, as this is a typical yearly trend for vehicle purchases.
According to reports, many electric cars are going to be launched in India in the next few months, but there are three of them which will be launched around the festive season. Those three EVs are the Tata Safari EV, Volvo EX90, and Volvo ES90. Let us discuss all these EVs one by one.
Tata Safari EV
Tata.Cars already have confirmed that their flagship seven-seater all-electric spot utility vehicle will go on sale in the Indian market around the festival season, although there is no confirmed date for its launch, with many reports suggesting that the launch will take place by late October 2026 with the starting ex-showroom price around ₹25 lakh.
This upcoming electric vehicle is not a born electric; it is an all-electric version of the Tata Safari that is already on sale in the Indian market with the petrol-powered internal combustion engine. The dimensions and design are highly expected to remain similar to the pure petrol version.
The seven-seater e-car from Tata has already been spotted testing on public roads multiple times; all these are pied images showing the car wearing heavy camouflage to hide the exterior design. Compared to the ICE counterpart, the EV will have a totally new front-end design to give it the appearance of an EV.
Nothing is officially confirmed regarding its powertrain, but a few reports say that the car will be available with the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive drivetrain. It is officially confirmed that there will be more than one battery pack option to provide choices to buyers to choose among depending on their driving need.
Volvo EX90
The Volvo EX90 premium electric SUV is the date for whose launch is officially confirmed by Volvo India. As per official reports, the carmaker is going to introduce this electric car to the Indian market on October 12, 2026. It is also a 7-seater passenger seat whose price for the Indian market is anticipated to be around ₹1.2 crore; the launch is scheduled to take place via the CBU-import route.
Its core specifications are already made public; it has two electric motors, one is mounted on each axle, which gets power from a 106 kWh pack. On the WLTP condition, the range after each full charge is 625 km; the same range for Indian roads is anticipated on the ideal condition. In the international market it is on sale in multiple variants, but the one coming to India is likely to be the Ultra.
This car is 5,037 mm longer, 1,964 mm wider, and 1,744 mm taller with a wheelbase of 2,985 mm. Behind the third-row seats, it has a boot space of 324 litres that is expandable up to 690 litres by folding the third-row seats. To enhance the charging cable carrying practicality, it also has a frunk (front storage trunk) of 46 litres.
Volvo ES90
Volvo India won’t only launch the Volvo EX60, all electric SUV, but also the Volvo EX60, all electric sedan, on October 12, 2026, whose expected ex-showroom price in the Indian market is around ₹1.1 crore. It comes with the Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, a grille-less front fascia, distinctive C-shaped LED rear lights, flush-type door handles, and up to 22-inch alloy wheels.
Its dimensions in terms of length, width and height are 5,000 mm, 1,942 mm and 1,546 mm, respectively, whose wheelbase is 3,102 mm. It’s a five-seater car with a 2-3 layout whose boot space is 425 litres that can be expanded up to 1,256 litres. Under the bonnet there’s a 22-litre frunk to help with carrying the same items conventionally.
Three variants are on sale in International; one on the Indian market is Twin Motor Performance. The model will get two electric motors and a 106 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The power output is 680 hp (500 kW) and peak torque is 870 Nm. Its acceleration timing for 0 to 100 kmph is 4 seconds. The WLTP range is 696 km.
