Mercedes-AMG, the high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz, has revealed the 2027 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ electric, a performance car, at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed as a sedan and a shooting brake. It is the high-performance version of the Mercedes-Benz CLA four-door coupe, which gets three axial-flux electric motors, one on the front axle and the other two on the rear axle at each wheel side.
Its drivetrain is AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, and its transmission is two-speed automatic. The combined power output is 500 kW (670.5 bhp), which makes the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration possible in just 2.7 seconds and allows it to reach the maximum speed of 270 km/h (167 mph) with the AMG Dynamic Plus Package. Notably, the continuous power is 450 kW (603.46 bhp), and the top speed is 250 km/h.
Equipped with a 94 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving a WLTP range of 670 km (416 miles) and 670 km (416 miles) for the sedan and shooting brake, respectively. Built on 800-volt electrical architecture supporting DC chargers up to 330 kW, which takes 22 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging. Just 10 minutes of charging adds 270 km (168 miles) of range in the WLTP condition.
Six different standard driving modes are available: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, AMGFORCE S+, ECO, and Individual, and one additional mode, ‘RACE,’ with the AMG Dynamic Plus Package. It comes with AMG adaptive sport suspension to provide a comfortable driving experience; rear torque vectoring with independently controlled rear motors; drift mode; rear-wheel steering to reduce the turning radius; and multi-level regenerative braking.
Upfront, it gets an AMG-specific front bumper with larger air intakes for cooling of the electric motor and battery pack; a closed-off AMG grille with vertical slats featuring the Mercedes-Benz logo for better aerodynamics and branding; and integrated LED headlights, including a star-shaped daylight running light and main headlamps with low-beam and high-beam.
In profile, it has a flared wheel arch to add style to the side view; AMG side skirts to enhance visual presence and technical performance; 19-inch alloy wheels to improve road presence; flush-type door handles to reduce drag and improve efficiency; and a frameless door to add a premium touch and make the cabin more airy when windows are rolled down.
At the rear, it gets an active air spoiler mounted on the tailgate for the shooting brake and on the boot lid for the sedan to reduce turbulence at high speed, a full-width through-type LED tailgate with a star pattern, an AMG rear bumper with a large diffuser, a Mercedes-Benz logo on the tailgate, and a side reflector to make the vehicle visible to other road users at nighttime even if the rear lights are turned off.
Inside, it features a seating capacity of four people in two-two arrangements: two separate in the front row and two on a bench-like structure in the second row. Front seats are AMG performance sports with integrated headrests for strong lateral support and a sportier appearance; all seats feature ARTICO man-made leather upholstery with a Nappa-like finish to ensure comfort and better durability.
Equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel with AMG steering-wheel buttons and paddle shifters for virtual gear changes. Features the MBUX Superscreen, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel showing all driving data, a 14-inch touchscreen at the center of the dashboard with OTA software updates, and an optional 14-inch entertainment screen available before the co-passenger seat.
Reportedly, Mercedes-AMG will launch the model in the European market in late 2026. Notably, the delivery will begin shortly after the launch. As of now, there’s no word for price. They are expected to launch in Germany with the price of €70,000. Following the launch, it will compete with the BMW i4 M50, Audi RS e-tron GT, Tesla Model 3 Performance, Porsche Taycan 4S, and Hyundai Ioniq 6 N.
