Tata's 7th EV Debuts June 30: Sierra EV Expected Between ₹20L and ₹25L

Now, it’s official that Tata Motors will introduce the 7th model in the electric vehicle lineup on June 30, 2026. The upcoming pure-electric car from the Indian automobile manufacturer is Tata Sierra EV. Reportedly, it is built on the Acti.ev platform with the 800-volt high-voltage electrical architecture supporting fast DC charging, removing range anxiety.

Notably, like other EV models from Tata, it is also derived from its ICE sister. The exterior is anticipated to be the same as the one already available for sale with a traditional powertrain. As an electric vehicle, its design is set to be little tweaked; many reports suggest that its front end will get many upgrades.

Upfront, it will get a closed-off grill; LED daylight running lights and main LED headlamps may remain, but the lower-mounted fog light is expected to be removed, as we saw with the Tata Tiago EV. The side may not get any upgrade except large aero-optimised alloy wheels, which help in improving efficiency by reducing drag, but the rear may see some in-bumper and lighting upgrades.

It is certain that it won’t have any dimensional changes, meaning its length, width, height, wheelbase and ground clearance are set to be the same as the internal combustion engine counterpart. The cabin will feature the same seating capacity of 5 people with a 2-3 layout but with better legroom and a slightly larger truck, thanks to its flat floor.

Inside, we may get to see the same dashboard that is available in the petrol-powered version. Many EV enthusiasts are expecting that the dashboard will feature a triple-screen setup, including a driver display below the steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system just above the central console, and an entertainment screen before the co-passenger seat.

The top-end variant is set to get a panoramic sunroof with UV and heat protection, two wireless phone charging pads, USB ports in both rows, a ventilated and electrically adjustable driver seat, separate AC vents for rear seating passengers with both cooling and heating functions, a premium sound system with a subwoofer, and much more for the comfort and convenience of occupants.

It is certain that for safety, it will get up to six airbags and may also feature a level 2 advanced driving assistant system that includes many smart features that make the driving stress-free and safe. No change in suspension and braking is expected, meaning they will be the same as the ones with which the traditional Tata Sierra is on sale in Indian market.

Tata Motors hasn’t yet revealed even a single detail about the powertrain. Many automotive publications claim that the carmaker will introduce it in the Indian market with both single-motor RWD and double-motor AWD. If this happens, the Sierra EV will become the second from the brand to come with an all-wheel-drive drivetrain after the Tata Harrier.

It is certain that they use the permanent magnet synchronous motor for a single-motor setup. They plan to introduce the EV with a double motor; then it will get an induction motor, secondary, on the front axle and a PMSM, primary, on the rear. The primary electric motor is set to be mated with a single-speed automatic transmission.

The launch date is confirmed, but the price is still uncertain; it is expected to sit between the Tata Curvv EV and the Tata Harrier EV. The former is available with an ex-showroom price ranging from ₹16.99 lakh to ₹19.49 lakh, and the latter with ₹21.49 lakh to ₹30.23 lakh, so we expect it to cost between ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh. Once launched, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, the Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Mahindra BE 6.
